Child Protection Policy

At Gods Sanhedrin Christian Assembly, we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children in our care. Our Child Protection Policy outlines our commitment to preventing abuse and ensuring the safety and well-being of every child who participates in our programs.

Our Commitment

We believe that every child is a gift from God and deserves to be protected, valued, and cared for in a safe environment. We are committed to:

  • Creating a safe and nurturing environment for all children
  • Implementing procedures that protect children from abuse
  • Training all staff and volunteers in child protection
  • Responding appropriately to any concerns or allegations
  • Following all applicable laws and regulations

Background Checks

All staff and volunteers who work with children must undergo comprehensive background checks before serving, including:

  • Criminal background check
  • Reference checks
  • Personal interview
  • Child protection training certification

Background checks are renewed every two years or as required by law.

Supervision Standards

We maintain the following supervision standards to ensure child safety:

  • Minimum of two adults present at all times when children are present
  • Adult-to-child ratios maintained at all times
  • Adults must remain visible and accessible to other adults
  • One-way mirrors or windows in rooms where children are present
  • Regular check-ins with children and adults during activities

Reporting Procedures

We are mandated reporters and will report any suspected abuse to the appropriate authorities immediately. Our procedures include:

  • Immediate notification of church leadership
  • Contacting child protective services as required
  • Providing support to the child and family
  • Cooperating fully with investigations
  • Following up with appropriate care and resources

Behavioral Expectations

All adults working with children are expected to maintain appropriate behavior:

  • Respectful and appropriate language at all times
  • No physical punishment or harsh discipline
  • Appropriate physical contact only when necessary for safety
  • Maintaining professional boundaries
  • Respecting privacy and dignity of each child
  • Following all church policies and procedures

Parental Consent

Parents/guardians must provide written consent for their child to participate in church activities, including:

  • Permission for care and supervision
  • Emergency contact information
  • Medical information and allergies
  • Photo/video release (if applicable)
  • Special needs or accommodations

Training Requirements

All staff and volunteers working with children must complete:

  • Child protection policy training
  • Mandated reporter training
  • Safe sanctuary practices
  • Emergency procedures
  • First aid and CPR (where applicable)

Training must be renewed annually or as required by policy.

Incident Reporting

All incidents or concerns involving children must be reported immediately to church leadership. This includes:

  • Suspected abuse or neglect
  • Inappropriate behavior by staff or volunteers
  • Accidents or injuries
  • Behavioral concerns
  • Boundary violations

Photography and Media Policy

We respect the privacy of children and families with our photography policy:

  • Written consent required for photos/videos of children
  • Parents may opt out of photography at any time
  • Photos used only for approved church purposes
  • Children not identified by name in photos without permission
  • Photos not shared on social media without consent
